Why President Trump Must NEVER Reveal His Tax Returns
The tip of the iceberg could be his undoing
Do you remember when President Trump said, “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.?”
Do you remember when in the Access Hollywood tape exchange with Billy Bush he said: “When you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything…. Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.”
And now you don’t have to strain your memory to come up with something offensive and appalling that he has said, because it happens so frequently.
Trump might actually be right that he could shoot someone or grab a woman’s pussy and get elected. The whole Mueller Report, whether or not it’s a witch hunt, his homage to Putin and bromance with Kim Jong Un, may piss off the Democrats and even his brutal, tyrannical and racist approach to immigration and tendency to go easy on the White Nationalists might have liberals and progressives pulling their hair out. But as long as the economy is strong — even if the vast majority of Americans are not benefiting from it — he’s as good as reelected in 2020.
Maybe, maybe not.
What if any and everything he rants about is a distraction? What if it’s all a distraction to truly keep his tax returns from coming out.
What if instead of the conversation he had with Billy Bush was not about women, but was about what you can do when you have a lot of money and lawyers as follows:
“When you’re rich you can get away with anything. You can hire the best accountants to find the biggest loopholes. You can make lots of money without spending any of your own money. You can hire the best lawyers so that even if you accused or convicted of anything, the worst you’ll have to do is pay a fine. You can essentially buy your way out of anything…
“And regarding making money off of deals and people. When P.T. Barnum said, ‘There’s a sucker born every minute,’ he was a lightweight. It’s more like there’s one born every second, and get this, they’ll fall for anything. All you have to do is sound like you know what you’re talking about and they trust anything you say and buy anything you sell them. A rose by any name would smell as sweet, but people are so stupid you could convince them a weed is a rose and that it smells just like rose. Speaking of suckers, I just suckered you, because if you look up the P.T. Barnum quote, it turns out it was first uttered by David Hannum, who was talking about one of Barnum’s hoaxes. And finally, don’t think you’re suckering me, because I know, and you know that you don’t even care about anything I just said, as long as you can be the first to report it, so you can have a scoop, because you’re just as much of a media pig as you think I am. Hey don’t worry. I’m not offended. F — k ’em. F — k em all. Why? Because we can and because it’s fun. Now pass the f — kin burger and fries.”
Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis famously said, “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
What if Trump’s tax returns did see the light of day and if they revealed just the tip of the iceberg of a many decade pattern of cheating, lying, stealing and making money off of hardworking and trusting men and women and “suckers…”
And what if that smoking gun enabled inquiries to reveal that he has been doing this all the way back to when he was the same preteen child as someone he would now send to prison to do adult time?
If you are from his base let me ask you. Just as you can’t be a little bit pregnant, do you think it’s possible for Trump to be a little bit deceitful and devious or do you believe investigation into his past would reveal a consistent pattern that even you would have trouble disregarding?
Then again, if he has P.T. Barnummed you, you wouldn’t even care.
I’m not here to view you through the eyes of P.T. Barnum or Trump, so let me end by asking you something.
Even if Trump has never been heard saying those degrading and derisive things about you, his base, do you think he has thought them?
