“How dare you not respect me!”

What usually fuels anger and violent language and acts is the rage of powerlessness or what is often referred to as “impotent rage.”

The reason powerlessness and impotence incites so many people (usually men) to rage is the shear humiliation of it. Humiliation is something that most men can’t stand and can’t tolerate.

What is it that he might powerless about?

He is powerless to gain the respect of people, which triggers humiliation and which causes him to resort to fear tactics and to demanding obedience from everyone connected to him.

I assume that President Trump will never see this piece, but if you are a Republican and agree with the above hypothesis and have access to him, you might simply explain the following to him.

“The only way to gain and hold onto respect in plain view is to earn it. And the only way to earn it is to make and keep promises that serve the best interest and future well-being of the majority of the American public — not just your party — and that make sense, feel sound and are actually doable. Furthermore, at the first sign that you will not be able to keep those promises, you must take full responsibility for it and inform everyone it negatively impacts and then come up with alternate solutions.”
